14 mood recipes where the lens, the light and the grade already agree

14 complete shot recipes. Each names the angle, shot size, camera movement, lighting, optics and grade that conventionally go together for one mood, so the six choices agree instead of fighting. Free PDF at the bottom, no sign-up.

The problem

Picking a lens, a lighting setup and a grade separately usually produces a shot that argues with itself — a wide-angle comedy lens under hard noir light reads as a mistake rather than a choice.

What this gives you

Fourteen complete combinations, each internally consistent, that you can paste as a block. Read the mood you want, take the whole row.

Common questions

How do I make AI video look cinematic?

Choose a mood first and let it decide the rest. Naming an angle, a shot size, a movement, a lighting setup and a grade that conventionally belong together does more than any single word like 'cinematic', which models read as a generic brightness-and-contrast cue.

Does naming a specific lens actually change the output?

It biases the model toward images made with that lens. It does not simulate the glass. Lens character is craft convention, recorded here as convention and not as a measurement.

Where this comes from, and what to read next

This page is a list. It does not explain the material — Cinematic language does, group by group, with what each decision controls and why. Research on how people actually prompt is collected under how people really use AI.
