Version 21 adds AI IntelliSearch for finding people, objects or spoken keywords across media, AI Speech Generator (voices from Blackmagic models or a custom sample of at least 10 seconds), AI CineFocus for adjusting focal depth with keyframeable parameters, AI Face Age Transformer, AI Face Reshaper, AI Blemish Removal, AI Slate ID for reading clapperboard details, AI UltraSharpen and AI Motion Deblur. All processing is local and there are no per-use credits.
Perpetual seat licence at $295 for Studio; the free version omits many Neural Engine tools.
- Requires consent from the person depicted. AI Speech Generator can clone a voice from a 10-second sample, so consent for voice cloning is the user's responsibility

- Pricing
- One-time licence, not a subscription. Free version available; DaVinci Resolve Studio is a perpetual licence at $295 (also bundled with Blackmagic hardware). No per-render or per-credit AI charges since all AI runs locally.
- Released or updated
- not established
Maximum duration, maximum resolution and supported aspect ratios are not established here. That means no page we could retrieve stated them, not that the model lacks them.
Strengths
- $295 perpetual licence with no per-use AI credits, uniquely cheap at scale
- Everything runs locally, which suits NDA and TPN-sensitive work
- AI tools live inside a full professional post suite rather than a point tool
- Unusually broad 2026-era toolset including age transform, face reshape, deblur and focal-depth adjustment
Weaknesses
- No API or headless automation path
- SuperScale's maximum upscale factor is not documented on the what's-new page
- Requires capable local GPU hardware
- Free version withholds most Neural Engine features
Best for
- Facilities wanting AI post without cloud or per-use fees
- Grading and finishing with integrated AI cleanup
- Media logging and search across large rushes
Where the sources disagree
Recorded rather than resolved. Picking the tidier number would hide the fact that the vendor's own pages do not agree.
- SuperScale, Magic Mask, Voice Isolation, AI IntelliScript and Dialogue Matcher are established Resolve features but are not described on the DaVinci Resolve 21 what's-new page we fetched, so their specs (notably SuperScale's max upscale factor) are unverified and omitted. Which specific AI tools are gated to Studio versus the free version was not itemised on that page.
What to understand before using it
Explainers naming the mechanisms this model's own documentation mentions.

Shotcraft hosts no sample output. Judging a model means watching its own showreel with your own eyes, and a clip re-hosted here would be a clip we chose.
